studio lighting workshop
I love lighting. Lighting is one of the key elements in my work, one that I plan thoroughly, and thoroughly enjoy working with on set.
Now, lighting is one of the defining elements in my work and one that clients often book me for.
But that hasn't always been the case. In my first years into photography, I also struggled to understand light (and yes, I also switched on light units crossing my fingers and secretly hoping they would work without me having to change the settings).
In this course, I want to show you how easy light can be. I want to teach you lighting the way I found it easier to learn it myself: hands on and uncomplicated. I will make studio lighting easy and approachable and give you all the knowledge you need to be more than confident using flash to improve your photography.
This workshop is aimed at all intermediate or beginner level photographers who wish to learn to comfortably master the use of studio lighting or simply grow their already existing knowledge and learn some effective creative tips and tricks.
The class starts with an hands-on introduction of the main types of studio flash lights and modifiers, exploring topics such as angle, distance, light fall off, shadows placement, background colour, hard and soft light and much more.
In the second part of the day, we will explore more complex, creative and exciting lighting setups, using the knowledge acquired in the morning to take our lighting game to the next level.
The day will feature a professional model styled by a makeup/hair artist. You will have plenty of time to individually shoot the model in the different lighting scenarios, to first-hand experience the different lighting setups and create new exciting portfolio images.
This workshop will leave you with all the knowledge you need to easily master studio flash lighting, to feel confident in the studio, and consistently improve the quality of all your photography work to come.
